The battles between Israel and Hezbollah have raged at an intense pace on Saturday.
In Beirut's southern suburbs, Israeli attacks have completely destroyed buildings during the morning, noon, and evening.
Southern Lebanon has also been bombed in Israeli air raids during the day.
Hezbollah, in turn, has fired what the Shia militia itself calls a "rocket salvo". A rocket hit a synagogue in the Israeli city of Haifa in the evening, according to the Israeli military. Two people are reported to have been injured in the attack.
Children killed
In eastern Lebanon, six people, including three small children, have been killed, according to Lebanon's Health Department. The department also reports that two ambulance drivers were killed on rescue missions in two different villages near Tyre and Nabatieh in the country's southern parts. Israel urged residents of 15 villages to leave their homes, and several areas have been attacked by Israeli fighter jets – including the ancient city of Tyre, which has been heavily affected by the battles in recent weeks.
According to the state-run Lebanese news agency NNA, a total of 145 air raids and attacks have been registered across Lebanon in the past 24 hours.
Ground forces occupied hill
At the same time, ground forces have pushed deeper into southern Lebanon. In the village of Shamaa, about five kilometers from the border with Israel, soldiers occupied a strategically useful hill for a short period before being forced to retreat. According to NNA, the forces also blew up a shrine and several homes in the area.
Hezbollah also reports that an Israeli Merkava tank was hit by a robot and destroyed in southern Lebanon, according to AFP.
According to Israel, the recent air strikes have been successful in hitting their targets, which are said to be both command centers and weapon depots belonging to Hezbollah.
