The 4th of October, the EU is to vote on whether to introduce a 45 percent customs duty on imports of Chinese electric cars. This is according to sources for the news agency Bloomberg. The member states are said to have been given a draft of the proposal, which would mean a significant increase from the current 10 percent customs duty.
The proposal for customs duties has, however, met with strong resistance from certain member states, primarily Spain and Germany, who fear a trade war between Europe and China.
