Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has appointed Kelly Ortberg as new CEO. Industry veteran Ortberg faces a tough task of turning the company around to success again after a turbulent period.
Predecessor Dave Calhoun announced his resignation in March and Ortberg takes over on August 8.
Among the array of concerns for Boeing is the accident in January, when a door plug on a 737 Max model plane came loose during a flight with Alaska Airlines.
Earlier this summer, Boeing entered into a settlement agreement with prosecutors, which included billion-dollar fines. The airline giant was accused of misleading American regulatory authorities regarding an agreement reached after 346 people died in two plane crashes in 2018 and 2019 in Indonesia and Ethiopia.
Kelly Ortberg was presented in connection with the company's quarterly report, which included a operating loss of 1.4 billion dollars.
