Nearly 1,000 people participated in a ceremony to honor the memory of Ukrainian journalist Iryna Tsybuch, who was killed while volunteering as a field medic just a few days before her 26th birthday.
Tsybuch was killed while in the Kharkiv region, where Russia launched its offensive nearly a month ago.
She left behind a message where she described how she wanted the ceremony to be held. She wanted people to sing Ukrainian songs and wear vyshyvanka, a traditional folk shirt, instead of black clothes.
Her death has drawn attention on social media after her letter gained widespread circulation.
"Today everything is behind me, my life has come to an end, and it was important for me to live with dignity: to be an honest, kind, and loving person", she wrote in the letter.
