The latest reports from Holloway's NHL club St Louis are positive. On their website, they write that the situation for the Canadian is stable, despite the unpleasant scenes.
Dylan Holloway received a shot to the side of his neck at the end of the first period of tonight's match against Tampa Bay, but played on for another 15 seconds before substituting. When he stepped into the bench, something happened, and the 23-year-old quickly received medical attention from the team doctors before being carried out on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.
Called for help
It's one of those things you never want to experience, says St Louis team captain Brayden Schenn to NHL's website after the match.
Luckily, he's okay. It's not me who should update the situation on things like that, but we know he's okay. It was just an unfortunate accident. I'm glad we can come with positive news.
It was another teammate, Russian Alexej Toroptjenko, who called the doctors' attention.
I saw that something happened. Then the doctors came, and I think everything will be okay now. We were worried, but we've heard that he's okay, says Toroptjenko.
"More important than the match"
After the incident, both teams went to their respective locker rooms, but the match was resumed later. The remaining minute of the first period was played after the break.
It was tough to start playing again, says Tampa Bay's coach John Cooper.
We talked about it in the locker room and just said that we hoped he was okay. It was, of course, more important than the match itself. But when we heard from the speaker that he seemed to be doing better and was on his way to the hospital, it naturally felt much better, says Cooper.
St Louis won the match 3–2.
