The food company Kavli is staying in Eslöv and plans to replace the refrigeration system that uses ammonia in the long run, reports Skånska Dagbladet.
The company accounts for most of Sweden's mustard production and also manufactures products such as mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, and soy sauce.
The municipality has wanted to eliminate the use of ammonia for safety reasons due to the central location in the city. Recently, the Land and Environment Court of Appeal also rejected an application for an extended environmental permit for the facility due to the risk of a serious accident affecting the surroundings.
We have now gone through the verdict with our lawyers. Based on it, we intend to replace the ammonia refrigeration system at the factory in Eslöv. We have no plans to move our production, says the company's HR and information director Jessica Sehlin to the newspaper.
