Möregårdh receives hate comments: "Sending knife emojis"

Truls Möregårdh mesmerized large parts of Sweden during the Olympic Games when he took double silver medals, one individual and one in team. Despite this, the 22-year-old has received hate online after the achievement summer. I get a huge amount of hate from people who bet on matches, says Möregårdh to the Success Podcast.

Möregårdh tells in the podcast that people also threaten his relatives, and that it mainly concerns people who have bet money on him.

It can be anything from them threatening oneself or threatening one's family. They can write that they lost a few thousand on me and send knife emojis.

But despite the tough messages and threats against family members, Möregårdh tries to avoid giving too much weight to it.

I think it's so sad how they manage to write hate comments to one. It's really nothing that has ever stuck in my head.

I know that many athletes talk about it and that it's tough, and I can understand it. But I've tried not to hang up on it, says Möregårdh.

Truls Möregårdh took during the Olympic Games the first Swedish Olympic medal in table tennis since 2000 when Jan-Ove Waldner took home a silver.
