Premier League football team Newcastle is in Asia for a preseason tour. However, the Swedish attacking star Alexander Isak is not on the trip. The 25-year-old is at home in England to rehabilitate a minor thigh injury. At the same time, several media outlets report that there is interest from both league champions Liverpool and Saudi giant club al-Hilal to buy Isak, who finished second behind Mohamed Salah in the Premier League's top scorer league last season.
Prior to Sunday's training match against Arsenal in Singapore, coach Eddie Howe answered questions about the transfer rumors surrounding Isak.
He is aware that he is in the news every day. I'm sure it's not easy for anyone to be in that situation, he says and continues:
The conversations between "Alex" and the club or with me will be kept private for obvious reasons. We have a good relationship.
According to Howe, Isak is mainly staying on home soil to rehabilitate his thigh injury.
Hopefully, he will soon be back and playing in the black and white jersey. That's what we all want to see, he says according to BBC.
