Vanessa Kamga has recently signaled that the form is getting better and better. Among other things, when she earlier in the week threw exactly 64 meters in connection with a GP competition in Varberg.
In Saturday's GP competition at Slottsskogsvallen in Gothenburg, it was then properly released. She came to the competition as the holder of the Swedish record at 65.14. But already in the second round, Kamga showed that something big was on the way when she threw the discus at 65.02. In the next round, she noted the new Swedish record at 65.67.
- I came into this competition with a good feeling. Before the competition, I just thought to take it easy and let the form do its thing, says Venessa Kamga in SVT.
”Can shock everyone”
Now she looks forward to topping the form even more before the World Championship in Tokyo on September 13-21.
- Now it's against that part of the season that you have laid out the form and now you just roll on it towards the World Championship, says Kamga.
She now feels that it can be significantly longer throws at the World Championship.
- I can shock everyone by getting a big throw, says Kamga.
High jumper Engla Nilsson also showed class when she jumped 1.92. Her best result at home.
I am satisfied with the results, but it would have been fun to take 1.95 as well. But I know it will come, says Nilsson.
Approaching 50-year-old record
Shot putter Wictor Petersson impressed in the shot put ring. He made three throws over 21 meters (21.13, 21.11, 21.10).
Now he is very close to beating Hans "Honta" Höglund's 50-year-old Swedish outdoor record at 21.33.
