The couple was found on Saturday during a search operation led by the organization Missing people, where approximately 200 people participated.

In the outer edge of one of our areas, the couple was found. They had come about a kilometer from the car, says Magnus Idebro, regional operations manager for Missing people.

He describes the terrain as very difficult:

The terrain is miserable with dense forest, a lot of moss, and very slippery. It's very hilly in some places.

There are no suspicions of crime in connection with the deaths.

The area where they were found is located near a hill – or more or less a precipice. So, one assesses that they may have fallen. But what happened, we'll take a little further ahead, says the police's press spokesperson Angelica Forsberg.

The couple in their 80s from Mjölby was reported missing on Monday, but the police suspect that they ventured into the forest already last Friday.

On Wednesday, the police ended their active search operation when they assessed that the couple would not be found alive. The couple had then been searched for with a dog patrol and drones. Even the Home Guard, a hundred volunteers, and Missing people participated.
