In the district court, he was convicted of instigating the murder, but the court of appeal instead convicts him of aiding and abetting murder. The perpetrator was a 15-year-old boy.
"Overall, the evidence is not sufficient for a guilty verdict for instigating murder. However, it is clear that he was so involved in helping the 15-year-old that he should be convicted of aiding and abetting murder," says Court of Appeal Judge Ingela Sundin in a press release.
Two more men are convicted by the court of appeal for aiding and abetting murder. One of them is a previously acquitted man, who is now sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison. According to the court of appeal, he participated in activities with and helped the 15-year-old during the days leading up to the murder, and the court believes that he must have been aware of the boy's murder mission.
The other person convicted of aiding and abetting was already sentenced to ten years in prison in the district court and now has the sentence confirmed by the court of appeal.
The teenage boy has previously been convicted to four years of closed youth care for carrying out the shooting on August 19, 2022, which led to the death of a 31-year-old leader of a criminal gang and seriously injured a woman who happened to be in the vicinity.
