In total, 107 migrants who attempted to cross the English Channel from France to England on Christmas Day have been rescued, according to French authorities.
According to the statement, a total of twelve rescue operations were carried out along France's northern coast, including one where passengers on a boat with engine trouble were assisted.
Since the turn of the year, at least 73 people have died in connection with attempts to cross the channel, the highest death toll ever for the stretch.
