Four years ago, Sweden took silver in the team competition, where two women and two men compete for each nation in parallel slalom. Now, they dream of a new medal when the World Championship in Austrian Saalbach begins on Tuesday.
And the chances increase after Kristoffer Jakobsen got the green light to compete, despite becoming a father as recently as Thursday.
Six skiers have been selected (two will be reserves): Sara Hector, Estelle Alphand, Lisa Nyberg, Kristoffer Jakobsen, Fabian Ax Swartz, and William Hansson.
"We have had training sessions with those who were relevant and then we selected the ones who were the fastest there," says national team manager Per Jonsson in a press release.
"We may not be the favorites, really, we have a partially quite young team, but we hope to be able to go far."
Corrected: An earlier version had the wrong number of years since Sweden's medal, the correct number is four years ago.
