A man has been caught trying to smuggle in over 100 live snakes – in his pants.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when the traveler was stopped by customs at the border to the Shenzhen region from Hong Kong, according to the Chinese customs.
During an inspection, customs officials discovered that the traveler had filled his pockets with six tied and taped fabric bags.
"When the bags were opened, it turned out that they contained live snakes of all shapes, sizes, and colors", according to a statement.
In total, 104 snakes were found, including several that are not native to the country.
China is one of the world's largest hubs for animal trade, but authorities have cracked down on illegal trade in recent years.
It is still unclear what punishment awaits the man.
