There are fires in several places in southern Europe.
In Martigues, near the city of Marseille in southern France, a forest fire has been raging since Thursday evening. About 1,000 firefighters are working to combat the fire, which on Friday morning was still not under control, although the situation is described as "somewhat better" due to increased humidity and changed wind direction.
And in Spain's capital Madrid, large clouds of smoke can be seen rising from a forest fire that is raging about five miles southwest of the city. Residents in communities between Madrid and the city of Toledo have been evacuated and authorities are urging people to stay indoors and use face masks.
Both smoke and ash are reported to reach all the way to Madrid, according to Spanish media.
Several highways in the area were closed due to the fire, but have reopened on Friday morning.
