The Base, as the far-right group is called, says that the murder of SBU Colonel Ivan Voronytj "was just the beginning."
It was last week that a masked person shot and killed Voronytj when he walked through a parking lot in Kyiv in broad daylight. Images of the murder circulated in Ukrainian media and caused a stir among the inhabitants of the capital.
Ukraine's security service SBU later said it had tracked down and killed two Russian agents in the Kyiv region, suspected of the murder.
The Base has long offered money to followers and volunteers to carry out murders and attacks on Ukraine.
"The shooting of the SBU colonel is not the end, but just the beginning," it said in a statement published on a Telegram account believed to belong to the group's Ukrainian cell. "We will continue our struggle until justice prevails.”
The group's American founder Rinaldo Nazzaro has been a Russian spy. When he was asked about the murder, he said he was not involved and did not know "who is responsible.”
Previously, Nazzaro has publicly supported the group's activities in Ukraine on Telegram and said that it was run by members in the country whom he did not control.
