The President has filed a lawsuit against Murdoch, his company News Corp and its subsidiary Dow Jones, which publishes The Wall Street Journal, as well as two reporters at the newspaper.

The lawsuit concerns the newspaper's publication of an article about a "dirty" letter that Trump allegedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein on his 50th birthday, 2003, at the urging of Epstein's assistant Ghislaine Maxwell.

Pubic hair

The letter contains text framed by the contours of a naked woman and the signature "Donald" which resembles pubic hair, according to the newspaper.

Trump has previously denied writing the letter and called it "fake".

"I hope that Rubert and his 'friends' are looking forward to the many hours of testimony they will have to give in this case", the President writes in a post on Truth Social, where he accuses the article of being untrue.

But the media group seems to be preparing to fight the President's lawsuit.

"We have full confidence in the accuracy and correctness of our reporting and will vigorously defend ourselves against all lawsuits", says a spokesperson for the company Dow Jones, which publishes The Wall Street Journal, in a statement.

Trump: Release the documents

In connection with the publication, Trump also ordered the Minister of Justice Pam Bondi to ask the court to make public the testimonies submitted to the jury in the Epstein trial.

In an application to the court in New York on Friday, the Department of Justice states that there is a "significant public interest" behind the unusual request to make the testimonies public, which are usually confidential.

The financier and billionaire Epstein died in 2019 in prison after being charged with, among other things, sex trafficking and abuse of a large number of minors over a long period. Maxwell has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for recruiting girls for the abuse.

Epstein's death has been deemed a suicide, but is still surrounded by a number of conspiracy theories.

Corrected: In an earlier version, an incorrect statement was made that Epstein had been sentenced.
