A man in his 40s was shot by the police in Kristinehamn on Saturday. He was shot in an area with apartment buildings after the police were alerted about a serious violent crime.
A threatening situation arose on the spot and we fired live rounds. Then this person was hit, says Martin Tysell, duty officer at the police in the Bergslagen region.
The man is suspected of a crime against a woman with whom he has a relationship. The woman is not believed to have any life-threatening injuries, according to the police website.
The man was conscious and able to talk when he was taken to hospital. His condition is reported to be stable.
