A man in his 30s who in the spring stabbed another man to death in Motala is sentenced to 17 years in prison for murder, reports Motala & Vadstena Tidning.
The district court considers it proven that the man was not in a self-defense situation during the incident. The court has also decided that he will be deported for life.
He denies the crime and did not intend to kill. I have been in contact with my client and we will appeal, says the man's lawyer Ulrika Wangle to the newspaper.
It was a Friday evening in early May when the police were alerted that a seriously injured man had been found outdoors in central Motala. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but his life could not be saved.
