A man used a fake driver's license and reported to a correctional facility in Mariestad to serve a sentence he didn't commit. The whole thing took place in August 2023 and the man managed to sit in prison for a month before it was discovered.
It was a forged identity document that was skillfully made, says prison warden Mohamad Mehanna to P4 Skaraborg.
According to Aftonbladet, the man has stated in interrogation that he felt threatened and wanted to start a new life under a new identity. He claims not to know the man he pretended to be.
The man is now suspected of using a false document.
