A 50-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of an outdoor rape in central Vänersborg, reports P4 Väst.
The police were alerted at around 3 pm on Monday and were quickly on the scene.
It was passers-by who called and reported seeing a suspected ongoing rape, says Annika Laag, the police's press spokesperson in region Väst.
The victim is a woman in her 40s who is to be interviewed. The man and woman are said to have been acquaintances previously.
