One of the major shareholders in crisis-stricken Northvolt, Harald Mix, states that he will continue to support the battery manufacturer with capital, reports Ekonomiekot on Sveriges Radio.
"Most serious assessors see what an important role a company like Northvolt plays for European competitiveness and the transformation of the automotive industry. I will continue to support Northvolt with new capital", he writes in a comment to the radio.
He means that Northvolt has created thousands of highly qualified jobs and opposes the criticism that he would have had unrealistic ambitions regarding the company.
It has been storming heavily around the battery giant over the past year, and reports of the economy being strained have followed each other. This week, the news came that Northvolt is laying off 1,600 employees: 1,000 in Skellefteå, 400 in Västerås, and 200 in Stockholm.
