Suspected Shooting Prompts Attempted Murder Probe in Western Stockholm

The police are investigating attempted murder and serious weapons offenses, after an alarm about loud bangs in Mariehäll in western Stockholm.

At 13:00 on Wednesday, several alarms were received about suspected shots from firearms, which were perceived to come from a residential area.

The police have initiated a preliminary investigation with the classification attempted murder and serious weapons offense.

We have found empty shells at the suspected crime scene and are securing tracks and technical evidence at the site, says the police's press spokesperson Ola Österling.

At 17:00, no person has been found injured, and no suspected perpetrator has been arrested. The crime scene has been cordoned off and door-to-door visits are being conducted in the area.

Otherwise, this is starting to shift to an investigative effort instead of a police effort, says Österling.

The police state that there is no danger to the public.
