Alecta's former chairman of the board Ingrid Bonde jumped off during the fall of 2023 in the aftermath of several failed multi-billion investments in American niche banks and the real estate company Heimstaden Bostad.
The company has since had difficulty finding a new chairman of the board. First, the Dane Lars Rohde was stopped from taking on the post because he had a parallel board assignment at Nordea underway. Shortly thereafter, former Handelsbank CEO Carina Åkerström emerged, and held the post for a week or so before jumping off in March last year.
Dagens Industri reported that Åkerström's old employer, which she still received a salary from, had large loan deals with Heimstaden Bostad.
The CEO of Svenskt Näringsliv, Jan-Olof Jacke, has stepped in as temporary chairman of Alecta while the company has been searching for a permanent solution.
