Lived 120 days beneath the surface

After 120 days, the German engineer Rüdiger Koch has emerged from his underwater dwelling and straight into the Guinness record book. The 59-year-old can call himself the person who has lived the longest time under the water surface after beating the previous record by 20 days.

The underwater capsule, eleven meters below the water surface, has not lacked amenities. TV, internet connection, as well as an exercise bike have been available. Via a connection, it has also been linked to a section above the water surface. This has made it possible for Koch to receive visitors and food.

The German has, however, simultaneously been monitored to ensure that he did not cheat and take a voluntary break from his underwater life.

It has been a great adventure and it's almost as if one regrets it a little. I have enjoyed my time here below, said Koch after now surfacing again off the coast of Panama where the record was noted.
