I think it's exciting that it has become such a huge debate. For once, we're discussing the content of cultural policy and not just the allocations, says Liljestrand to Expressen.
The Minister of Culture was met with boos during her opening speech at the Gothenburg Film Festival on Friday, where she, among other things, clearly marked her distance from the film industry and said that it is not "the task of politics to demand more and more tax money from citizens".
Pia Lundberg, newly appointed artistic director of the film festival, described the speech as "aggressive".
Earlier on Friday, Parisa Liljestrand faced criticism when she did not participate in a film policy meeting in Gothenburg with the Nordic film industry.
Since then, the Minister of Culture has not commented, but breaks her silence on Tuesday in an interview with Expressen.
I think that when you ask a politician to come and give an opening speech, you're clearly interested in the political content. And that's what I presented, the bourgeois and moderate cultural policy, says Parisa Liljestrand.
