The weather is causing trouble for the skiers in Vasaloppet. Instead of 50 tracks at the start, the thousands of skiers will have to make do with 25.
It will be a bit calmer for everyone, I don't think it's entirely wrong, actually, says SVT's expert Anders Blomquist in the broadcast, reports Expressen.
On the competition's website, the organizers write that at the road crossing at the start in Sälen, there is a pond "that hasn't had time to freeze". Therefore, "the track bed will narrow already here before the first hill, which will make more participants queue on flat ground instead of on the hill", they write further.
The organizers also write that "the snow conditions are good" but that the track quality will be affected by plus degrees during the day.
