"Lars is currently tied to a healthcare center that can provide him with the treatment and care his condition requires", writes producer Louise Vesth on

.

She adds that it is a complement to his own private residence and that the 68-year-old director is doing well under the circumstances. She regrets, however, the speculations that have occurred in the tabloid press about von Trier's health and asks that his private life be respected.

Lars von Trier, one of the biggest stars in Danish film, has directed many controversial films such as "Antichrist", "Melancholia" and "Nymphomaniac". He won the Palme d'Or in Cannes in 2000 for "Dancer in the Dark".

In September last year, the Danish Film Institute granted support for a new feature film with the title "After", which is about death and life after death. The director himself wrote in a now-deleted post on Instagram that he "with a bit of luck should still have some decent films left in him".
