Iran's Revolutionary Guard consists of both armed branches and an intelligence organization and is controlled by the regime. Already in March last year, a majority in the Riksdag's Foreign Affairs Committee wanted the government to push for the issue of designating the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization at the EU level.
Kristersson's announcement comes after war has broken out in the Middle East and several incidents have occurred at Israel's embassy in Stockholm. The Israeli military-technical company Elbit Systems has also been subjected to an attack suspected to be linked to Iran.
Next week, there will be meetings in the European Council.
We want Sweden to seriously take up with the other EU countries the incredibly problematic connection between the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, their destructive role in the region, but also their escalating actions in various European countries, where Sweden is one of them, says Ulf Kristersson to Expressen.
On Sunday evening, Kristersson will appear with the party leaders of the other Riksdag parties in SVT's Agenda.
