Israel's military has begun a construction project near the demilitarized zone controlled by the UN, which separates Israel and Syria. This is reported by the American news agency AP, which has examined new satellite images from the area.
The work includes asphalt laying for a road right next to the border on the Israeli-occupied part of the Golan Heights.
During the work, which began in September, Israeli personnel have entered the demilitarized zone controlled by the UN's peacekeeping forces, confirms the UN to the news agency. The intrusion violates the ceasefire rules that apply in the area.
Israel also appears to be constructing a buffer zone next to the asphalted road.
The border area, called the Alpha line, has not been subject to major military operations during the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. The border area has been monitored by the UN's peacekeeping forces since 1974.
Syria has not commented on the construction projects in the border area.
