The Palestinian terrorist-stamped Islamist movements Hamas and Islamic Jihad take responsibility for Sunday's suicide attack in Tel Aviv. In a joint statement, they simultaneously threaten with more similar attacks in Israel, reports AFP.

A man was killed and another person injured in the explosion in the Israeli metropolis. Israel's police and security service concluded earlier on Monday that it was an attempted terrorist act.

The man who died was carrying the explosive charge himself, according to the Israeli authorities.

The Israeli police suspect that the man wanted to attack a synagogue near the explosion site, reports the newspaper Haaretz. He is believed to have carried the explosive charge in a large backpack.
