Over 500 people have been detained in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka due to the extensive demonstrations in recent times. Some of the arrested are opposition leaders and 163 people have been killed, according to the police.
An organizer of the student protests is calling for a two-day pause in the protests, which demand reforms of a quota system for government jobs.
We demand that the government withdraw the curfew, restore internet access, and stop targeting student demonstrators during this period, says organizer Nahid Islam.
