Hezbollah has fired "rocket salvos" at Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon, according to a statement from the Iran-backed Shia militia. From the Israeli side, it is reported that Hezbollah has fired around 80 projectiles at the country.
The rocket attack is said to have targeted soldiers in the town of Aita al-Shaab, where there have been regular reports of clashes between Israel and Hezbollah in recent weeks.
The Iran-backed Shia militia claims to have fired rockets at five residential areas in northern Israel, including the outskirts of Krayot near Haifa.
Hezbollah also claims to have launched drones at the Tel Nof airbase south of Tel Aviv. If the reports are true, it would be the first time the airbase has been targeted by a Hezbollah attack.
