France's president Emmanuel Macron will visit Greenland on June 15. During the visit, he will meet Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
The three will, among other things, discuss the security situation in the North Atlantic and the Arctic.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants to take control of Greenland and he has not ruled out the use of violence. Trump's statement has been met with strong criticism.
Mette Frederiksen says in a press release that it has been uplifting to experience the great international support for Greenland and Denmark.
”President Macron's upcoming visit to Greenland is further concrete evidence of European unity”, Frederiksen continues.
