Stefan Sundström receives this year's Fred Åkerström scholarship. "An artist who certainly came from punk and rock, but who early on showed his love for the Swedish ballad, something that has later been followed up in countless ways", the jury writes in its motivation.
The jury also highlights that Sundström has "a glow that extends far beyond the own ego and artistry, also this similar to Fred Åkerström".
The scholarship of 40,000 kronor was presented on Monday evening at the restaurant Den Gyldene Freden in Stockholm by music journalist and author Lars Nylin, who helped establish the scholarship in 2023 together with Cajsastina Åkerström.
Last year, Lisa Nilsson received the scholarship.
