A "popular outsider" receives Dagens Nyheter's culture prize 2025. The author Bruno K Öijer is awarded for the poetry collection "Exchange rings with darkness" and his noted reading tour.

"He is a popular outsider and, I believe, one of the few poets who can save people's lives", says Björn Wiman, DN's culture editor in a press release.

Among other nominees for the prize were trumpeter and composer Goran Kajfes, artist Gunnel Wåhlstrand, actress Asta Kamma August and playwright and director Andreas Boonstra.

In an interview with TT before the reading tour, Bruno K Öijer described himself as a workaholic with sparse publishing. "Växla ringar med mörkret" took years of preparation, but was then completed in under seven months.

I have to ration myself and the readers, it wouldn't benefit anyone if I published a poetry collection every year, he said.

DN's culture prize consists of 50,000 kronor and the sculpture "Lilla regnet" by Eva Lange.
