The portrait, a photograph, was taken by Mikael Jansson, who has worked as a fashion photographer but also produced exhibitions, including the notable "Witnesses" featuring portraits of people who survived the Holocaust. Max Martin, songwriter for artists such as Adele, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and Ariana Grande, feels honored and grateful:
"Considering who has been portrayed previously, it almost feels unreal that a hard rocker from Stenhamra gets to move into Gripsholm Castle," he says in a press release.
The State Portrait Collection is on display at Gripsholm Castle and is the world's oldest national portrait gallery. It now comprises over 5,000 portraits and paintings by artists such as Anders Zorn and Carl Larsson.
