In total, the equivalent of 40 million Swedish kronor will be invested in exposing the Viking fortress, which was built around 980 by King Harald Bluetooth. The money will, among other things, be used to mark the fortress's ramparts with broad steel bands and to manufacture a large bronze model of the fortress.
The fortress in Odense's center is called Nonnebakken. Together with four other Danish ring fortresses, it is listed on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
Danish Viking King Harald Gormsson Bluetooth ruled a realm with its center in Jelling on Jutland. During his time, it expanded southward, northward, and eastward and also included eastern Denmark, parts of Scania, Halland, and southern Norway.
Under his leadership, Denmark transitioned from pagan to Christian faith.
