Halfvarsson's demands for letting Russia in

It requires more than the war against Ukraine ending for the Russian cross-country skiers to be welcomed back into the fold. That's what Swedish national team veteran Calle Halfvarsson says.

Russians and Belarusians have been banned from international ski competitions since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. So it should remain, says Halfvarsson.

If they are to return, the war must be over. But then a long process is also needed with this, including doping controls, says the 35-year-old ahead of Saturday's World Championship skiathlon.

The lack of insight into the Russian anti-doping work in recent years is what Halfvarsson is questioning.

One has no idea how it has looked with doping controllers in recent years. And they have a history that is not so bright all the time.

According to NRK, the Russian anti-doping organization Rusada claims that Russia's big star Aleksandr Bolsjunov has been doping-tested seven times in the past year. Does Halfvarsson believe it?

No.

I base it solely on how it has looked historically. With the history that exists, it is difficult to have confidence in everything related to doping from there.
