Gröna Lund is part of Parks & Resorts Scandinavia. According to the latest available annual report from Parks & Resorts – published last summer – the amusement park Gröna Lund's loss for 2023 swelled to 177 million kronor, compared to a loss of 8 million the previous year.
The turnover plummeted by 30 percent to just under a billion and the number of visitors fell to around 877,000, compared to 1.3 million the previous year.
"The lower result for 2023 is primarily an effect of the accident in Jetline and the unstable weather", writes Parks & Resorts about the dismal figures.
Gröna Lund was closed for ten days after the fatal accident in the roller coaster Jetline on June 25, 2023.
"The accident in Jetline, the uncertain economic situation for households, and the unstable weather left their mark on Gröna Lund's summer season, where visitor numbers decreased by over 30 percent compared to the previous year", writes Parks & Resorts.
For the entire group – which also includes Kolmården and Skara Sommarland – the loss before tax was 281 million kronor for 2023. Revenues fell to 1.26 billion, from 1.61 billion in 2022.
