Both Hugh Grant and Renée Zellweger are starring in the new "Bridget Jones: Mad about the boy" which premieres on Valentine's Day, February 14, next year. But the tone of this new fourth film about Bridget Jones differs from the previous ones, says Hugh Grant on "The Graham Norton show" on BBC.
It's not only very funny, but also very, very sad, says Hugh Grant, who returns in his previous role as Daniel Cleaver, Bridget Jones' former unfaithful boyfriend.
In the new film, Bridget Jones, just like in the latest book about her, suddenly becomes a widow in her 50s and a mother of two children. Grant told that author Helen Fielding started writing a novel about a single mother and discovered that she resembled Bridget Jones.
So she made it into a book about her.
Helen Fielding has also written the screenplay for the new film.
