This year's grain harvest is estimated to increase to 5.1 million tons, an increase of 19 percent compared to last year, according to the Statistics Sweden (SCB). However, despite the increase, the harvest is 6 percent below the average for the past five years.
"Poor and delayed establishment of both autumn-sown and spring-sown crops, combined with early summer drought, reduced this year's harvest to below the five-year average", writes SCB.
