This has been at the top of the sports movement's wish list for a long time, says Minister for Social Affairs and Sports Jakob Forssmed (KD).

I know that this is very, very longed for.

The new support amounts to 250 million kronor in 2026 and the same amount in 2027. The government funds will co-finance the reconstruction, new construction and renovation of sports facilities.

Forssmed believes that the support will go a long way. To meet an increased need for sports facilities as the leisure card is now introduced, an extra temporary support of 130 million kronor was introduced last year.

It had an enormous catalytic effect, says Forssmed.

The support co-financed 432 projects in 174 municipalities. According to the Minister for Sports, the government support now proposed is the largest for more sports facilities in several decades.

How the money will be distributed, the government will return to.
