This means Kalmar - who have a game in hand against their relegation rivals and face title-chasing Sirius on Sunday - are three points ahead of both Degerfors in the relegation play-off place and Örgryte in the relegation zone.
Degerfors took the lead in the second half, in the 57th minute, through Dijan Vukojevic and looked to be heading for three valuable points at Stora Valla. But the Värmland side folded and lost everything.
“So tough”
Substitutes Joackim Fagerjord (84th minute) and Gustav Lundgren (third minute of added time) turned Gais’ deficit into a 2–1 lead.
I can barely find the words. It’s so tough right now. It’s very hard to say, Dijan Vukojevic tells TV4.
We had the lead for so long. But then... we switched off and lacked quality in important moments.
Two missed penalties
At Gamla Ullevi in Gothenburg, Örgryte had reason to be relieved after drawing with Västerås. For a long time, a point looked like too little compared with Degerfors, but in the end, the 0–0 draw meant they gained the same number of points.
And that was thanks to a Gothenburg rival.
You never want Gais to win, but today they actually managed to do it. It was fun to watch after the match, Örgryte goalkeeper Alex Rahm tells TV4.
He made his Allsvenskan debut - and had a much tougher time. In the eighth minute, he brought down Västerås’ Axel Taonsa, but got his revenge by saving the penalty taken by Taonsa. In the second half, Västerås were awarded another penalty, which Abdelrahman Boudah hit against the post.
It is worth noting that Degerfors and Örgryte meet in the final round. After the upcoming international break, Örgryte will face Kalmar.
