The fire that broke out at a warehouse in Tyrnävä, Northern Ostrobothnia, on Friday night means that up to a fifth of Finland’s seed potatoes have been lost, Hanna Kortemaa of the Finnish Food Authority told Yle.
Most Finnish seed potatoes are sold on the domestic market, but some are exported. According to Kortemaa, both markets are likely to be affected by the loss.
