After an examination, the municipal auditors conclude that the boycott was a clear violation and that the procurement and purchasing board has failed in its responsibility.
Therefore, the municipal auditors are now issuing a remark – which is the more severe form of criticism – to the board.
It was last spring that the City of Gothenburg's procurement and purchasing board – on the proposal of the governing S, V, and MP – decided to stop purchasing goods from "states that illegally occupy other states". The boycott included goods from, for example, Israel, Russia, and Morocco.
However, according to the Administrative Court in Gothenburg, the decision conflicted with the Municipal Act – and the boycott was lifted last autumn.
The Education Committee is also criticized by the municipal auditors after the committee decided to allocate extra funds to municipal schools but not to private schools.
