"Green bonds are increasing in importance across all sectors", says Beri Tekes, economist at the securities section of SCB, in a press release.
The increase since January 2022, when the statistics began to be kept, is 418 billion kronor.
This concerns interest-bearing papers, such as money market instruments and bonds, offered by Swedish organizations to finance projects that, according to international rules, are classified as green or climate-friendly.
The green alternatives now account for 9.6 percent of the total Swedish interest-bearing bond debt, compared to 5.3 percent three years ago.
"If the trend continues, the share will exceed 10 percent by 2025", says Tekes.
In the non-financial corporate sector, green bonds have grown to 379 billion kronor, an increase of 58 percent over three years.
In the financial sector, the increase was 147 percent, to a total of 397 billion kronor.
The increased interest is also evident in other areas of society.
"The increased importance of green bonds is noticeable in both the private and public sectors", says Beri Tekes.
