At least 40 people have become food poisoned in Mariestad after eating sandwiches from the same food company, writes Mariestads-Tidningen.
We believe that the salad is the cause, it has been on all the sandwiches, says Rikard Andersson, environmental inspector in Mariestad municipality, to the newspaper.
The affected have fallen ill with symptoms such as stomach pain, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and muscle pain.
The infection may have come through water on the cultivation or through contact infection, according to Andersson. Samples have been sent for analysis to determine if the infection is due to a virus or a bacterium.
The food company has been forced to sanitize the premises with chlorine to stop the spread of infection.
Winter vomiting disease is extremely contagious.
