A comprehensive fire is raging in a shipyard for nuclear submarines in Barrow-in-Furness in northwestern England, reports BBC. Two people have been taken to hospital after inhaling smoke.
The site is building the British Navy's nuclear submarines, i.e. submarines powered by nuclear reactors. According to the defense company BAE Systems, the facility is the second largest indoor shipyard of its kind in Europe.
The fire broke out just after midnight, local time. According to the police, there is no risk of a nuclear accident, but residents in the area are advised to stay indoors with doors and windows closed.
