The American federal police FBI has conducted nearly 1,000 interviews, but has still not fully clarified the motive behind the shooting and attempted murder of presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, is believed to have sought a major event for a long time to carry out an assassination attempt, and he had searched for information about Trump and his then opponent President Joe Biden more than 60 times.
Crooks is not suspected of being particularly left- or right-oriented. He is said to have searched for explosives online as far back as 2019.
Trump was hit by a bullet in the ear and suffered minor injuries in the attack. Crooks was shot and killed by Secret Service agents on the spot. A supporter in the audience was killed and two others were injured.
